Hitchhyke offers two payment methods for drivers: Card Rides (processed through Stripe) and Cash Rides (paid directly by the passenger).

Card Rides

1. Stripe Account Setup:

   • During registration, drivers must sign up for a Stripe account and link their bank account.

     Registration requires identifying documents & details of drivers and their vehicles. Police records are required for safety of all Hitchhyke users.

2. Ride Payment Processing:

   • At the end of each card ride, the passenger’s payment method is charged the total fare plus any applicable fees.
   • The driver’s earnings are then split according to their subscription level.
   • The driver’s portion is immediately deposited into their Stripe account.

3. Payout Control:

   • Once funds are in the driver’s Stripe account, the driver has full control over their payout frequency.

Cash Rides

1. Passenger Pays Directly:
   • The full fare is paid directly from the passenger to the driver in cash.
   • No platform fees or charges are deducted from cash rides.
2. Cash Limits for Drivers:
   • Higher cash ride limits are available only to subscribed drivers.
