Panic Mode & the Panic Button

Hitchhyke provides the Panic Button as a serious safety feature for both Riders and Drivers. It should only be used in situations where you believe your life, health, or safety is at risk due to another user or a third party. Users who activate Panic Mode will be required to file a police report regarding the incident. Do not use the Panic Button unless you are prepared for police or emergency services involvement.

What is the Panic Button?

The Panic Button is prominently displayed in the app during a ride and can be accessed by both Riders and Drivers. It is designed as an instant alert system that users can activate in distressing situations. If the button is tapped by mistake, you have 5 seconds to cancel before alerts are sent.

If not canceled, alerts are automatically sent to Hitchhyke’s emergency response team and your designated emergency contacts.

What Happens When I Use the Panic Button?

Once activated, your profile enters Panic Mode. The other party in the ride will not be notified. After the ride ends, you will receive a proof of life & safety request from Hitchhyke.
