The Platform Fee is Hitchhyke’s share of the trip fare, deducted from the total ride earnings before the driver is paid. This fee does not increase the trip price—instead, the fare is split between Hitchhyke and the driver.
How the Platform Fee Works
- The trip fare is calculated based on the driver’s per-kilometer rate, base fare, and any additional charges (e.g., wait time fees or tolls).
- After the fare is calculated, Hitchhyke deducts the Platform Fee before paying the driver.
- The passenger pays the full trip fare plus some third-party fees, and the Platform Fee does not add any additional cost beyond the quoted ride price.
Example:
- If a ride costs $1000, and the Platform Fee is 10%:
- The passenger pays $1000.
- Hitchhyke deducts $100 as the Platform Fee.
- The driver receives $900.
Where to See the Platform Fee
- Passengers: The total fare you pay already includes the Platform Fee. There is no separate charge for this on your receipt.
- Drivers: Your earnings summary will only show an estimate of what you will receive after the Platform Fee deduction, not the full trip fare.
This fee supports Hitchhyke’s operations, platform development, safety measures (such as background checks), and customer support.
