Wait time fees help keep the Hitchhyke platform running smoothly. To avoid extra charges, be on time and ready when your driver arrives at the pickup location.

How Wait Time Fees Work

Wait time fees are charged every 3 minutes after the driver has selected 'I am here' at the pickup location.
If a driver arrives early, wait time fees begin immediately after they select 'I am here'.
Additional wait time charges may apply depending on demand and location.
We are currently evaluating whether wait time fees will apply in cases where a ride is canceled with a cancellation fee.

Wait time fees are added automatically once the ride starts.

Wait time fees vary by location and may be adjusted based on traffic and demand conditions.

Requesting a Wait Time Fee Refund

If you or someone you frequently travel with has a disability that impacts your ability to board a vehicle within 3 minutes, you may request a refund for the wait time fee.

To request a refund:

Open the Hitchhyke app.
Tap 'Report an Issue' in the trip details.
Select 'Request Wait Time Fee Refund' and provide details.

Submit a ticket for issues experienced during a ride.
